We don't need to say more than that.

Built for rabbit biology

A rabbit's gut requires continuous movement. Their teeth require continuous grinding. Hay — the physical structure of hay fiber — is what makes both work. So Fiber Fundamentals starts with hay.

Rescue-tested. Rabbit-approved.

The people with the least margin for error switched first.

Rescue coordinators feed dozens — sometimes hundreds — of rabbits, and watch outcomes daily: digestion, dental wear, body condition, stool consistency. When they switch to Sherwood, it isn't because of marketing. It's because the biology holds up under scrutiny.

"We do ask that foster families provide hay and food if they can — and we’ll even tell you what kind! We exclusively use Sherwood Pet Health at Flufflepuff. We’re not paid to say that — it’s just the truth. We believe in giving our buns the absolute best and the golden bunny poops we have all over the rescue is the proof. Fostering is a beautiful act of compassion." -Flufflepuff

"They also need a good rabbit pellet like Sherwood (the best) or Oxbow, Science Selective etc. The first ingredient should be Timothy hay (or alfalfa for babies). Nothing with colorful bits or seeds!! Seeds especially can cause digestive blockages that can be deadly." -Always Sunny Sanctuary

Q: How does this compare to Oxbow?

A: Same price. 2× the hay content, by weight. We don't name other brands in our marketing — but we do show the label. Draw your own conclusion.

Q: My rabbit's been on Oxbow for years. Is switching safe?

A: Yes. Use the 10-day transition schedule above — gradual, and most rabbits make the switch without issue. If your rabbit is resistant or you see any digestive changes, slow down. Contact us if you need guidance.

Q: Does Fiber Fundamentals have more fiber than the Gold Tier?

A: No — same principle, different job. Fiber Fundamentals has 2× the hay of the leading brand because we don't use fillers like soybean hulls in place of hay. Gold Tier follows that exact same principle:2× the hay, none of the fillers.Fiber Fundamentals isn't "more" than Gold — it's the same no-filler standard, built as the accessible entry point.

Q: What's the difference between Fiber Fundamentals and Gold Tier?

A: Fiber Fundamentals is the Silver Tier — the clean, hay-first alternative at the same price as the leading brand, and the right food for most adult rabbits.

Sherwood Signature Gold offers four formulas tuned to your rabbit's age, body condition, and feeding style — Measured or Free Choice, Timothy or Alfalfa. It's the next step once your rabbit is established on Sherwood: more precision, not more hay-first-ness. Both share the same non-negotiable — no fillers, grain, sweeteners, or synthetic vitamin A.

Q: The label says 12% crude protein. The leading brand says 16–17%. Isn't that less?

A: No — and it's the most important number to understand on a rabbit food label. Crude protein tells you what's in the bag, not what your rabbit can use. Protein is built from 22 amino acids; miss one and the chain can't complete — the rest is wasted, excreted as ammonia (litter box odor, and over time urinary sludge).

Grain and soy are short on a couple of those amino acids, so grain-based formulas pile on total protein to look competitive — a 16% label nets roughly 5–6% usable. Fiber Fundamentals adds back the missing amino acids (DL-Methionine, Lysine, L-Threonine), so 12% crude becomes about 9.7% usable — roughly 2× the usable protein of a 16–17% grain-based label. We call the principle Lean Balance™.

Q: 6.5% crude fat looks high next to 1.5–2% on other bags. Is that a problem?

A: No — that gap is about manufacturing, not nutrition. Pelleting a high-fat formula so it holds shape on a production line is hard to engineer; most brands kept fat low because they couldn't solve that, not because low fat is what a rabbit needs.

Rabbit biology runs on fat: when fiber ferments in the cecum, the byproduct is volatile fatty acids — a rabbit's primary fuel. Our fat comes from safflower and flax, feeding that system directly. Push carbohydrates instead and the excess overflows the cecum and disrupts digestion. Higher fat here isn't a compromise — it's the problem nobody else bothered to solve.

Q: I have a young rabbit. Is this right for them?

A: Fiber Fundamentals is formulated for adult rabbits (1+ year). For rabbits under 12 months, consider our alfalfa-based Baby Rabbit Food for the higher protein and calcium they need during growth. Consult your rabbit-savvy veterinarian.

Q: Is there a rescue organization discount?

A: Yes. If you're ordering for a rescue and placing 20+ bags per month, visit the rescue store for partnership pricing: Rescue Store

Q: What if my rabbit won't eat it?

A: Contact us — that's not a punchline, we actually answer. Call (602) 206-6937, Mon–Fri 8am–4pm Arizona time. Our team includes licensed vet technicians. If there's a transition problem, we'll help solve it.
